Rocket Lab Successfully Launches 53rd Electron Mission, Boosts Kinéis IoT Constellation

Rocket Lab USA, Inc. achieved a significant milestone today with the successful launch of its 53rd Electron mission, dubbed "Kinéis Killed the RadIOT Star." The mission lifted off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand, at 11:01 a.m. NZST (23:01 UTC, September 20) and successfully deployed five satellites into Low Earth Orbit for French Internet-of-Things (IoT) company Kinéis.

This launch marks the second of five dedicated Electron missions for Kinéis, which is backed by the French government's space agency CNES (Centre National d'Études Spatiales) and CLS (Collecte Localisation Satellites), an international space-based solutions provider. The Kinéis constellation aims to revolutionize global IoT connectivity by enabling data transmission from remote locations, thereby supporting a wide range of applications such as forest fire detection, water resource
management, infrastructure and energy network monitoring, and transport and logistics tracking.

The Kinéis constellation is designed to provide seamless connectivity to connected objects anywhere in the world, enabling near-real-time data transmission at low bit rates and with minimal energy consumption. This innovative technology has far-reaching implications for various industries, including environmental monitoring, urban planning, and logistics. By bridging the connectivity gap, Kinéis is poised to unlock new possibilities for IoT applications.

Rocket Lab's founder and CEO, Sir Peter Beck, expressed his enthusiasm for the mission's success, stating, "Today's successful launch marks another milestone for Rocket Lab as we continue to enable innovative companies like Kinéis to push the boundaries of global IoT connectivity. With each mission, we are bringing the world closer together, allowing vital data to be transmitted from the remotest corners of the Earth."

Rocket Lab's impressive track record now stands at 53 launches, with 197 satellites deployed for a diverse range of customers, including NASA missions to the Moon, the National Reconnaissance Office, and Space Force missions supporting national security and defense. The company has also contributed to scientific research combating climate change and commercial constellations providing vital data and services to millions of people on Earth.
